Review site decorum

As I have read through many a thread here I have yet to discover how review sites approach potential sites to review.

I have been trying to contact the site reps and have had little luck in doing so, is it considered bad form to contact them? or should I just get my site up and wait for them to contact me asking to be reviewed?

As it stands I'll probably be trying to contact the reps for the next thousand years or so|shocking| , any help is appreciated.
