The one time I lost weight as an adult, and kept it off a year and a half, I lost 8# the first month (that was the strictest as far as food) and 3 - 4# a month after that. I agree with Sheep Guy, most doctors will tell you to aim for no more than 1 - 2 lbs a week.
I'll be going back on that eating plan. It is really strict, but it is what worked. No flour, no sugar, and lots of veggies, some fruit and protein so pretty much a balanced diet.

And given my workouts right now, I might gain before I lose, because I always add muscle faster then I lose fat, lol.
