Anyone here switched hosts before?

Was hosting with a buddy of mine off a reseller account he has. Was a shared IP, knew that, but they don't allow adult sites, didn't know that (booo).

Is there ANYTHING worse than switching hosts? I actually think that moving the information is not too bad, I can probably get that done in like a day or less. However, on this new host I've been waiting for like EVER for my DNS entry to resolve. Shouldn't this take just a couple hours at most? What's the worst case scenario I'm looking at here?
