Question Newb LL question

First of all, hi to everyone , i'm an extra bigginer newbie who is just starting in the business, and i thought this forum was the best place to start reading and asking questions ( the quote 'The Only Stupid Question is the Question Not Asked' at the bigining helped a lot too).

So I almost finished building a free site, and as i was gathering the banners for the recips in the 9 sites listed at http://www.megapornlinks.com/rejected.html i also re-read the rules in all of them just to make sure and then i saw this:

Richard's realm LL rules ( http://www.richards-realm.com/webmasters/ltfpInfo.phtml )

sites that are generally not accepted:

-Sites which are nothing more than an extra directory on a domain name which is already on my list.

So for some reason i had assumed that this was the way everybody did it, that is, putting all the free sites as extra directories, simply. I'm completely confused now. Does that mean that for every other free site i wanna make i need to get another domain name and web space?? There has to be something im missing here, cause it always says: 'max 1 or 5 or etc number of submissions per day', which would make the domain/webspace costs pretty insane at the end of the month if you decided to actually send the max amount of sites per day (which i also assumed was the norm). so how about subdomains then? Are they fine for new free sites?

I would very much appreciate if someone could help me out with this

(and i do realize that this question must sound very newb-y to you guys ... )

and sorry for my weird English too

Thanx in advance for any help!
