I'm normally not a praying man, but if you're up there, please save me Superman!

Walking for a cure, please read!
Hey All! I wanted to let everyone know about a special event that I’ll be participating in called The Weekend to End Breast Cancer. It is a 2-day 60 km (37 mile) walk taking place in Montreal with thousands of other men and women and the net proceeds will support breast cancer research & treatment.
Since starting fundraising for this event I’ve talked to many people about how cancer has affected their lives. I’d like to share mine with you, this is just of the reasons I’m participating in this event. On January 4th 2004 as I was on my way to Internext I received a call to let me know my mother slipped off a stepladder and fell sideways on to a small footstool, bruising her kidney. While at the hospital getting X-rayed her doctors noticed something odd with her left kidney, because of the internal bleeding around her kidney they could not see exactly what it was. On March 4th sitting in the doctors office with my father by her side my parents heard the two words no one wants to hear; "It's cancer". I'm happy to say she has since had her kidney removed, is a survivor and is cancer free. My mother is alive and well today because of a freak accident that pointed the doctors to the exact location of the cancer. We are extremely fortunate and thankful for the gift of a second chance that my mother was given. This year approximately 20,500 Canadian women and 250,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and about 45,000 will die from the disease. Those numbers are ever growing and have to stop. The Weekend to End Breast Cancer has given me the opportunity to do my part in the fight against this disease. I'm walking for the women in my family and yours. To find out more about this amazing weekend, you can look at my personal page I’ve seen how generous the webmaster community has been in the past when it comes to helping various charity organization and I hope you guys can come through yet again. I am not taking any donations personally, it will all go through The weekend To End Breast Cancers website and all donations of $10 and more are tax deductible. Many of us have so much to be thankful for, this is for a great cause and any donation is very appreciated! Please check out my personal page to help fun my walk. Thank you, Kenny B! |
