Need advice with new LL

I want to start my own LL and after reading this board and making some free sites that are accepted at most LL I submit I think I am ready. (Or maybe I am not really ready but I think the best way to learn is by doing).

Anyway, what is the best advice you would give to someone starting a new LL today, besides work, work, and work hard. Also what script would you recommend to start with until the LL starts growing. I really do not want to do it by hand, so an easy to use script that is template friendly would be ideal.

I plan on listing my own sites and some of the clean ones that some of you have available to start with and then open it for submissions. As far as categories, I think I will start with just a few and then add on as needed.
How does that sound? Any advice on categories to start with is welcomed.
