Is this preferred? It certainly looks better, but on the other hand some ll owners could object to changing their recips like this (even though both recip links, their texts & anchor attributes are retained) ?

Most LLs will take custom recips and I believe most prefer it. It's also the only way you'll fit 20 or so recips on a freesite and keep it uncluttered.
