Why original text is more important than ever

There has long been a debate in Webmaster forums about the relevance of content.
Some say "Content is King", others beat poor content into submission with talk of SEO tricks and link-building.

Google is now removing any doubt in this debate with their latest assault on duplicate, poor and spammy content by releasing details of their new algorithm.

"This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites--sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites--sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on," Google

I've highlighted the most important aspects.
Google has categorically declared war on duplicate content.

What is duplicate content?
If you're a blogger and you use sponsor material to make affiliate sales, you MUST write your own posts. Relying on the copy supplied by sponsors is Google suicide. You may as well pack-up now and move on.
If your blog was doing okay before with copied content, be prepared to loose those visitors as Google rolls this out around the globe and hones in on your site to see the same text on every other affiliates blog. These new algorithms are designed to find your copied content, and remove your pages from Google.

What's your solution?
It's simple enough. Go in and rewrite all of your copied content. If it was provided by a sponsor, those words are almost guaranteed to not only be worthless in the eyes of Google, but they will actually decrease the value of your site as Google finds more and more of it. You need to do what people were telling you to do from the start; write original, quality, engaging content that Humans actually enjoy. That was Google's intention, and they tried to tell everyone that too.
If you can't find the time to do that, you may as well sit back and watch your site slowly fade into the nether regions of Google's archive.

Or...
Ask someone like me to do it for you.
