Is the net slow for you?
Does anyone else seem to be running slow? I am dragging so bad on just about every site I visit, I think I am going to give up for the night. I can't even review I am running so slow! Maybe everything will be better in the morning and I can get some work done!

Running real fast for me today.
I was thinking that it had to do with the fact that my network got rebooted because of the electrical work that I'm having done. |

I seems to be getting worse now! I tried running a traceroute to one of my sites, and it had problems at 5 of 16 hops, and then I tried pinging it and it is dropping packets about every 4th or 5th ping!

When things seem to slow down here, I unplug my network router for a day and just bring the line directly to my system. For whatever strange reason, my router actuall slows down the net after awhile. I'm not going to pretend to know what goes on inside that little metal box. Maybe it's static. I don't know.

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.

Useless Warrior - a lot of those routers have their own software including firewalls that are acting on the TCP/IP transactions - definitely if you have the ability it is good to drop the router out of the loop for a while and do direct networking

I have a Linksys router and it does like to be rebooted ever now and then. I just unplug it for about 15 seconds and then it is fine again.
I'm usually the only computer on it so it isn't a matter of spy ware or anything. Most of the routers have a built in ethernet switch that seems to start doing funky things with MAC addressing. I have found that using a separate hub instead of the built in one seems to cause less problems. |

Cleo - definitely the best solution - I hate these new routers that have the hard coded firewall stuff built in - Im using a satellite connection and it takes a dump just about every day because of the router - but the hub added in and running bare helps

Cool. I'm not crazy then. Well, at least not about that particular subject.

Well, everything seems to be running better now. I guess there were some hiccups in the system which eventually worked themselves out.
