I agree with Bill.
I think more and more webmasters are designing galleries and pages to impress other designers instead of making sales.
Also the vast majority of webmasters are on high speed internet connection.
I believe the majority of surfers are still on dial-up. A "fancy" gallery takes too long ot load on a dial up and alot of those surfers leave before the page loads.
