Wenchy, just a query about Paganism. Many years back, out of interest only, I read a lot about witchcraft. In that "religion" the term "grimoires" refers to the stronger, most black spellbooks, the ones most witches won't even read, let alone use. Does the fact that Pagans use these as their "personal bibles" mean you go in for the darker stuff or have you just corrupted the use of the word grimoir ?

Theproofhouse - I agree, but there is a difference between believing in "not insulting a faith" and stifling criticism of a faith. For example I am a Christian, I have spent a lot of time at church, I even used to belong to a group who went around performing religious plays to anyone who we could convince to watch them in the hopes of helping "people see the light". However I do not have a problem with any of the posts on this, or similar threads. In fact if the moderators started editing any of these posts, then I would object, even the posts they edited were posts that are very contrary to my views.

To insult someone's faith is wrong, but to stop someone expressing an opinion against another faith worse, it is fascism.

Theproofhouse - Rereading my last post I just realised that the last paragraph may be seen as an inference that you are a fascist. It was not meant that way. Sorry.

OK, all this religion is getting far too serious so check this out

Worship my Winchester

That's all I have to say on the subject now, we all have our opinions and this is getting far to deep.

Mostly I use them when I feel a need to cry our 'Oh my god'

But I do seem to have quite a collection now!
Batteries not included (or necessary!)

Sharing is caring, honest

It's not loaded - but I know how to use it!

lol

The pope is just an old guy. Take it easy on him, lol. If the media's talking 24/7 about his toilet problems, that's not the pope's fault. That's the damn media's fault and people who watch TV who makes CNN and FOX think reporting on the pope will make them more $$$$

A grimoire is simply a "witch's bible". I get the impression from non-pagans that it has been primarily connected with the black arts, but modern witchcraft simply views it as a book in which a practitioner keeps their spells (and not all spells are evil or designed to do harm, BTW), notes, rituals, private thoughts, etc.

Personally I haven't corrupted jack, but that's just me. |cool|

Incidentally, the "grande grimoire" I'm sure many have heard about is nothing more than a grimoire held by the head of a coven. In the old days, these books were guarded with one's life and well hidden to avoid discovery by those who labeled witchcraft "heresy" and would have killed to make it go away.

And that's the last comment I have on this topic as I have far bigger fish to fry on this chilly Thursday afternoon. So much work, so little time...
