Odd that I should come across this thread... there was a story on the local news last night about this very topic. Curiosity got the better of me and I stuck around to see what they had to say, and it was almost as helpful as the crap from M$, basically of no use to parents at all, IMO, and certainly not to some of the clueless parental units who can't even find the "any" key.

I was pretty amused that they did think to mention LOL in their very brief list of "coded words", given that it's been around as long as I've been on the net (cripes, has it really been almost eight years?!?) and for many, many moons before my time and hardly qualifies as part of any secret language.

I could sum up advice for parents in one simple sentence: Don't let your minor children access chat rooms or IM proggies on the net. Simple, easy, straightforward, and doesn't require half-assed assistance from Mr. G4t3s and company.
