Back in the nineties I did Mac computer consulting and while I was out using clients computers I would try surfing my stuff mostly on Macs but sometimes Windows machines. The port number got put in there after seeing my images blocked if I remember correctly by Macs behind proxy servers, same thing with the trailing slash.
