New to the board with questions about starting a link list

Is it possible to start a link list without a script? Can't you just update the links daily through dreamweaver?

You still have to update your links with a script so what's the difference?

I don't plan on having submissions for a long time if ever.( i want all the money ) I'm using my own free sites and galleries and filling the rest with fhg's.

So tell me why I need a script please.

Note: I'm talking about a link list management script not a traffic trading script

What you're talking about is a hub, not a link list if you aren't going to accept submissions. I don't think you need a script to run a hub, at least I don't use one, I guess it could make it easier to import your links if you're adding a lot of sponsor galleries at once?

Can a link list script be helpful for a hub, peoples? or just a waste of $$

I'd be interested in hearing this too, I do plan on taking submissions at some point
but don't see it worth spending $$ just for my hub.

doing it by hand every day with tons of links gets old really quick and it won't be easy to grow in the future if you want to... if you want a decent free script check out Linx Lite I just installed it on one of my hubs and I am rather happy with it

welcome to the board blueballs

Thanks kinky for the welcome.

There is other reasons why I'm trying to avoid scripts. I found a few that are free like links2.0 but I want to use my own site layout.

I don't know php to alter the code and not sure how to implement the script into my site layout. Also I never used a database so thats another problem.

Also why would it be hard for my link list to grow without a script? can you explain

All i have to do is add the links into the html and overwrite the old index file.

first off link 2.0 is shareware, if you use it to make money you have to purchase a liscense for it

if you try to do it by hand it is 100 times more work than using a script and it will be way harder to grow you site... say you want to add more categories, rotate your links, change stuff around it will take forever and be a big pain in the ass and you will get sick of it real quick as it will take up all of your time just adding links...

most scripts once you get them installed are really easy to work with as everything is pretty much automated, if you can't install it you can always pay somebody to do it and it won't cost you much...

if you want a script where you can keep your current design check out Link Admin it is the only non-template driven script that I know of

if you are only gonna add a few links a day you can do it by hand but it really does get old after awhile

I would not attempt to run a link list without a script (see sig...hehe), but I do most of my own hubs by hand - gives me the opportunity to try out different link text and whatnot, and since I don't build a lot, it's not difficult to keep up with.
