LL Owners, Would You List This One?

Apart from not conforming to the "standard" freesite layout (Index/main/2 gallery pages), you have too many sponsor links on each page. Most LLs only allow 3. Some LLs also have rules against too much free content.

Regarding your index page question, just mirror the page, put it in its own folder and voila, a "real" index for everyone.

Hmmm, I see. I was just about to say that there were three links to sponsor (top banner and two at the sides). But then it occurred to me that the webcam banner at the bottom of the page could well be considered a link to a sponsor, even though the target is actually another page on my site. I was thinking in terms of external links - DUH! I'll pull the webcam banner off.

Content-wise, I've noticed that some LLs don't like too much free content, so I've deliberately not submitted to them. Out of curiosity, what is their reasoning for not accepting sites with so much content?

As for the index thing, what a mind buggeringly simple solution Just so I've got this straight (don't want to screw up again!), it's acceptable to make a directory, say "1" and add an index file in there that links to the same place as the index file on the document root?

I didn't even notice that one of your banners was an internal link. Many reviewers would probably (just like me) see 4 banners and reject.

Well, the whole idea is to tease the surfer enough to whip out the CC for the sponsor site, not to give him enough free porn to be happy with that.

The way I do it is like so:

todayssite/folder1/index.htm
todayssite/folder2/index.htm
todayssite/folder3/index.htm

All of the indexes link to the same things. Don't put an index in the "todayssite" folder. This way all the indexes are of "equal importance" which is what seems to be a peeve with many LL owners.

Can't argue with that! But then, from what I've seen, most webmasters put up LOTS of small free sites with different content. Isn't the cumulative effect much the same as having it all in one place? Though I suppose, from the LL's perspective, lots of small sites are better because they get more recips? Either way, if that's the preferred approach, that's what I'll do with my next site.

Got it, the explanation is much appreciated! Though it's gonna be a slight problem for Girls in Hose - I'm pruning the recips, but I'm still going to be left with about 12 that have either already accepted or are pending approval on the root index. I guess they'll have to stay put, but I'll certainly do things differently next time.

Many small sites with a little teaser content beats one large site with a lot of content.

My advice would be not to get too stuck on the site that started this thread. If you want to get a lot of traffic to send to your sponsors, learn how to build freesites reasonably within "the box". Once you get than hang of it you can easily knock one out each day. Submit to 50 LLs (make sure to include mine ). Do this every day, build, submit, forget, build, submit, forget, and soon you'll have a traffic machine rolling.

The moment I got past the index and saw the list of galleries I closed it. Simply too much content and too many pages. I'm sticking strictly to listing standard free sites for now.

Thanks Lemmy, I'm planning to do just that - possibly using one of the outgoing links per freesite to link back to my problematic first-born site with a view to making it some kind of hub.

One more question, if I may - in making these box-fitting freesites, do they all have to be on their own domains, or is it acceptable to do something like:

genericdomain/todayssite/folder1/index.htm
...
genericdomain/tomorrowssite/folder1/index.htm

Just make a new directory for each site and you'll be fine. Good luck!
