The very best way to pull everything is to have a 404 page that explains why the pages were pulled. I've seen some nice ones today. Just a quick statement about how much GW sucks and below it a sponsor ad. No redirection.

One should only redirect if they have no qualms with being banned. No matter the situation, it's still pretty shady because the surfers aren't getting what was promised. Surfers don't blame the unknown redirecting webmaster. They blame link lists and TGPs for not having clean listings.

I thought you guys with the big linklists and big tgps ran link checker scripts every few hours and deleted all sites that have gone 404 or return 302 redirects.

I just finished deleting some sites off these domains:

spanking-new-paddles.com

Not ALL sites have been deleted! Here are the titles of the ones that are gone:

Sites are going to a very simple 404 page that instructs them to either go to my homepage or to use their back button. I hope that's okay.....I am so sorry.

I'm not one of the big guys. Just ask them, they'll tell you. From my understanding, some sites have integrated bots that automagically pull bad links, but not all. Most of us run different bot programs that just report, but can't pull anything. That's all done manually while referring to the bot's report. So bad links stay up until we can get around to running the bot.
