![]() The local radio stations here suck big slimy green donkey anuses so I'm stuck listening to CDs while I'm driving which wasn't so bad back when I still used CDs but now everything I own is in MPG4 format and most of my playlists don't fit on CDs and in fact many of my house mixes that I have are over 2 hours long so they don't even fit on CDs.
My Vette has a Bose factory system in it which they make a big deal of when you buy the car but I guess whoever designed the system didn't much care for base in their music so something like Portishead just makes the speakers rattle and sound like the finest 1970's 8 track tape. So like the leather seats that I didn't want but was forced to buy as the salesman went on how special the Vette was that it came standard with its burn your ass off while rotting and cracking in the Florida weather that have now been replaced with nice and soft clothe seats it's time to replace my Vette's wonderful factory stereo. Went over to the local place that is known for doing top of the line custom car audio and ordered lots of expensive little ugly bits of electronics that I'm told will sound fucking awesome. I told them that I want everything hidden which seemed to surprise the salesman and installer who seems to usually deal with customers who like to show off their car audio with plexiglas and glowing lights. They can't do the work until the 16 of next month and will have my car for 3 days which kind of sucks since I'm a one car household. Good thing that I work from home and enjoy riding a bicycle. Here is some URLs that I found showing each piece that I ordered. I was surprised that the prices on the internet were actually a bit more then the prices that I paid. I guess they make it up with what they are charging me to install everything which includes building a custom fiberglass housing for the subwoofer. I just put a deposit on it.
I mostly went with what I went with because that is what they like to use and I like the install work that they do. Also Alpine seems to be about the only choice for a really good iPod interface. |

If you don’t take a chance the Angels won’t dance

I bought my daughter a Durango and then for her birthday I bought her an Ipod. She tunes the radio to some frequency that plays the Ipod. So when she isn't listening to Bob and Tom she blasting her Ipod in the car.
I've only ridden with her once. ![]() |

That which does not kill us, will try, try again.

Sounds like you're going to have a nice setup there, Cleo.
![]() I did the iPod/radio things on my old Jeep (CJ-7) a couple of years ago. Looked at the way Surfn's daughter is doing it, but the FM transmitter for the iPod wasn't quite there back then. Went with a Jensen radio that has an audio-in jack on the front. Nothing very fancy but it's definitely nice to have gigs of music when you want it. Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do about speakers this time. I've gone through two sets in two years because it's really hard to keep them out of the weather down here when running with no top. There don't seem to be any waterproof speaker enclosures that still let good sound through. Most marine speakers I've heard don't sound very good either.

I figure it can't be any worse then listening to my iPod at the gym using the Koss earbuds that I use or my home audio that caused the old woman that used to live behind me and who bought a fog horn to blast my way in her attempt to annoy me back with loud sound. The fog horn didn't work as I would just turn up the volume so that I couldn't hear it. I'm not sure what became of her. A lesbian couple own the house now and we have an agreement that I don't complain about their noisy kids if they don't complain about my loud music. |
