Yes but he'll replace a right winger with a right winger so what will change? Remember he felt Americas had NO rights unless they were expressly mentioned in The Constitution. Privacy, health care, choice, religion, sexual expression, equal oppurtunities, education ..... The list of what is not mentioned is huge.

Sure he could appoint Jimmy Baker but how much worse could this be? Loosing the voice of reason is the one that hurt.

On another note, it's been paraphrased by many chroniclers of society, science, and philosophy that at the individual level, people don't really change. It's only through the death of the old guard that we ever progress at all towards more "enlightened" and fact-based beliefs. Otherwise, we'd still be locking people up as heretics for using telescopes.
