What I know is that surfers who are interested in the older B&W vintage porn photos don't always like old 70s-80s style porn too. And I know that converting either one can be tricky. But if you don't have much content in either category, then sure, why not combine them if that works for you. If I wanted to promote the retro and vintage categories more strongly, then I might separate them to create smaller funnels for the surfers to sort the traffic more finely. That said, I know there are some big/popular link lists which combine those two categories, so I would say that probably works well for them.
