Tigermom - I looked into that for a webgirl friend running on BlogDrive, trying to get her to move to wordpress installed on her site domain... In theory if you could get the data to export into a workable format, it *should* be possible to do a little modifications to that format for import into something else (matching up the database tablenames, fields, etc.) but it'd be a pain in the ass. Maybe some WP / PHP guru should write a converter plugin to be able to import and convert some of the more popular freebloghost backup formats. I'm not keen enough for that project though!
Every blog has its rss or atom feeds. So with a simple php parser, it only takes minutes to get the data loaded on you server.
