I find it funny that those that are promoting "Go out and spend your savings for Christmas" even consider Jesus at all. The spending has nothing to do with the true idea behind Christmas yet that is what we have created.

Yes, you are correct, the day was chosen to over ride any other celebration that had been going on for many centuries.

You should change that to "Go out and spend your savings and future earnings for Christmas". The Holidays wouldn't be what they are whithout credit.
