Offer it to him in trade would be one other suggestion.
Of course I don't know the value of the domain to you or what kind of traffic it collects for you. But if you offer to trade for something and let him be the one to offer something in trade you may be surprised. But if he's being (or turns into) a dick on the phone, then I'd go with choice #1 with a smile. Simon .
