Well, your question is pretty wide ranging...there are lots of variables to getting traffic. But, I'd say to start by making sure your pages are all SE friendly. As to link trades, becoming known amongst link list owners can go a long way toward getting trades

SE friendly? What's SE mean? (toldja I was a noob). My buddy who is handling page design probably knows...
