WHAT IS HOTLINKING AND BANDWIDTH THEFT?
Bandwidth theft or "hotlinking" is direct linking to a website's files (images, video, etc.). An example would be using an <IMG> tag to display a JPEG image you found on someone else's web page so it will appear on your own site, journal, weblog, forum posting, etc.

Bandwidth refers to the amount of data transferred from a website to a user's computer. When you view a webpage, you are using that site's data transfer to display the files. Since web hosts charge based on the amount of data transferred, bandwidth is an issue. If a site is over it's monthly bandwidth, it's billed for the extra data or taken offline.

A simple analogy for bandwidth theft: Imagine a random stranger plugging into your electrical outlets, using your electricity without your consent, and you paying for it.

Fuskerer simply places all on their pages and no bandwidth loss to you. If you get fusckered it won't really matter unless your site is about promoting free porn...then you compete with them on who see's the free porn first??

I don't even know how to begin to reply to this.

Fusker HOTLINKS all the images that are on their pages from the other webmaster's domain. Go to one of the fusker sites, click on a link, let an image load & then right click it & view the properties.

I'd also love to know about these Link Lists & TGP's that you started 10 years ago. In March 1996, PK, The Hun & Richard were a few months old. Me, AL4A, & Ampland were merely twinkles in the eyes of the internet (my site opened on June 96 on a free host)

Alex is probably the most informed webmaster on this board & for you to sit here & argue with him without doing any research on what you're speaking about is not helping your cause.
