I think it depends on the pasy site. If the tour is going to push HD vids and super high quality photos then you may want something that's larger then normal because you're target market will have broadband and larger monitors.
If it's just for a stadard pay site then 800x600 and fast page loads is a good rule of thumb. |

Size of a tour page doesn't concern me much as long as it doesn't take over a few seconds to load.
