Shame that you don't like alcohol, Cleo, as vodka is a good medicine for cold.
Put a 1/4 of vodka in long glass. Put there a metal spoon. Then fill it with boiled water. Add some sugar. Drink as hot as you can before going to sleep. If that won't help, drink the left over vodka next day as raw. If it won't heal you at least you don't care that you have a cold.
