Stacycat, I think the answer to the "why not copy them" things is pretty simple, actually: Imagine 300 servers (and I have no idea how many servers invovled in this move, except to say that renting a cargo plane for the move should say a bunch!). That would be 300 backups to run, then 300 backups to reload, and most importantly, 300 new servers to buy to accept the data. Beside the issue of cost, there is the issue of time and timing: That many backups and restores would take a long time to do, some people would lose days of data and such as this happened.

IMHO, of course! :-)
