I think it is a case of 'thats how its always been done' it just happens to be a nice coicidence that it can work out great for SE traffic

Warning Page = Modest attempt at "self regulation" ... something the adult industry needs, to help avoid US Government intervention.

As for the hun's comment on warning pages, he is simply referring to galleries. Don't put a "warning" page on the entrance to your gallery, that would just be silly.

-Warning pages at the root of your domain give you the benefit of being able to use an FPA that is seen by your bookmark base.

-A warning page gives you the ability to at least make an attempt to keep minors from accessing porn.

-IMO a warning page shouldn't damage your rankings in the serps. As long as your onpage SEO & incoming links don't change. Just make sure your entire site is still easily spiderable through a sitemap.
