Think you guys may have mis-read his post...he says he has virtual hosting, not free hosting.

That said, the Hippy is right of course though...many reviewers (myself included) hate numbered entry pages. I'll decline for it with notice a few times, then blacklist.

Using keyword.html works for a lot of lists, but also doesn't work for some. There are multiple threads on the board about folder structures to avoid problems and still use index.html pages

I am surprised someone declined your sites for the content not being in the same folder though. Always thought as long as the content was on the same domain, it was fine. And people call me a hardass

No I am not using free host abendoned that long time ago, have virtual hosting account ( not dedicated server) also have few domain names.
Will spend some time searching the forum for folder structure posts.

Forgot to mention that In the past some of my sites were rejected for reason: content not being in the same directory as site (but same domain)

wow.. I've never got that rejection, but if I one day do, I'll stop submitting there in a snap.
I might be missing something but why would anyone care about the location of the content |confused|

I only build free sites for now, but I plan on using the same content for different things in the future so it makes most sense to have it and the ads in a separate central location that's different from where the sites reside.. cos it seems stoopid to have to upload the same exact content several times.

Well...yes and no...

Most do require that the content at least be hosted on the same domain. If we didn't, some of the nefarious types out there would hotlink to others content

iMan, a while back I experimented with dropping freesite mirrors on different domains in the hopes of getting some small SEO perk. The effect was null.

In general, I find it much easier and simpler to just keep all my freesites and mirrors in a single folder on a single domain and keep track of all my pages in a spreadsheet.

Since I treat each freesite as an independent entity, all contents are allocated to it's respective folder, and after submission is left alone. If I must make a change/substitution, I refer to my records.

And as MrYum hinted at, be wary of hotlinking to your own images across multiple domains. Preventing hotlinking from other people across all those domains while creating exceptions for your own is a real pain.|shocking|

Hmm.. so Google figured out that they were still doorways?
Did you keep everything except the recips the same?

I personally prefere to have the content at a central place, but whatever works. All I'm saying is that it seems strange to deny listing because the pics are not in the same exact dir as the site when it's still on the same domain.

yeah, I wouldn't do it accross domains... just within the same domain.
Anyways, I'm just using 1 domain for now

Only recips, copyright notice, and 2257 url changed, but the sites weren't unique enough otherwise for google, msn, or yahoo to be loved. It was a lot of work and I saw no significant benefit.

I get far more attention far easier from the big three, especially google, when I re-write the text on my mirrors to read something a little different.
