Do you still submit to dmoz?

I still get traffic from listings there, but I was wondering if they still list sites and have active people there to add them, anyone submit there?|confused|
thanks

I've gotten this message when I've tried submitting probably for the last year and a half (linklist category): http://www.dmoz.org/unavailable.html

Ahhh that sucks guys, I still get quite a lot of traffic from them, I bet theres still a huge amount of people that get good sales from old listings then. I remember a day when all you would do is submit to dmoz and sales would drop from the sky nearly instantly, like snow flakes drifting to earth!!!! Those were the days.
So sheepguy, I was gonna try to convert some free sites to cyb erage today, do they still not accept sponsor content? I really want to use the sites Ive already made (with sponsor content in them).
cheers!

Not quite true Preacher...

DMOZ suffered a catastrophic failure on the Editors side in Oct 2006, and consequently NO SITE has been added, edited and declined since that time.

Fixes are being completed as fast as possible.

Thanks for the clarification Dave. Yeah the year & a half was just a poor guestimate, but I did try to submit right around whenever the last SE Chat was with Bill because he suggested to us we try and I could not submit for whatever reason.

I'll keep my fingers crossed when it re-opens.

Oh yeah, those were the days, it used to be you could base a whole business on dmoz alone.

Not so much now.

A while back they did this wierd housecleaning thing - thousands of sites removed with no rhyme or reason i could detect. I still have many sites there - but tons were removed. Old sites that were dmoz dirty with crappy old content were kept, while newer sites with big fresh content were dropped.

Some of their reviewers ripped thru there with chainsaws, but unevenly, as always happens with dmoz.

What that means is you can't trust the place, but if you keep track of your submissions (because you don't want to double submit a site, and you have to find the cats with active reviewers), it makes sense to try to sub there. (when and/or if you can ever sub again)

But, some reviewers, in some cats, didn't seem to like linklist freesites, the ones with recips.

Danger Dave, the main man! Is there more than a snowballs chance in hell of u inviting me to submit on your site? I used to post on your aussie board, but then I think you changed domain. I'm down here in Arctic Victoria, and would love the chance to be on one of the only large aussie Link Lists I know? My icqs 5 2 1 1 0 2 8 3, if theres any chance

Don't see why they wouldn't, though I've never done it. The only content they've ever turned down from me has been for the ridiculous reason that, "Only sex toys are allowed to be inserted" or some such, meaning vegetarian meat substitutes aren't cool with them

They might not list you on their link list but there are plenty of places to submit AVS's in my sig page. If you want to do some AVS stuff drop me a PM.

Hmmm, sounds like not much chagned there over the years then. It was the most extreme case of 'vested interests' there, with the reviewers having a pile of their own sites in the category that they work for. It always seemed to me, the most basic and simple way to clean that sort of stuff up was to have the editors not being adult webmasters, meaning, if they were going to work there, then then couldnt have an adult site, as then its too easy to rip the system off themself. Or even make it that each reviewer is only allowed X amount of adult sites, they could do that with all webmasters to make it fair.
Oh well, that was back in the times when AOL search came straught from Dmoz, I dont think thats the case anymore.
