Wheither you think you can or you think you can't, Your right.

Oh boy, just what we need. Another free blog host where people can churn out 100's of crap blogs. I use to think free blog hosting was an "okay" idea, but after I see the huge amount of mass blogging going on, mass blog crap, I don't see it as good any more.
People, If you want to make money in this business, get your own domain, only like 10 bucks a year, wordpress is free and hosting is dirt cheap. Nothing personal Pimps, just sad to see all the crap, rss driven junk, thats coming out nowdays. |

Pimp, nothing against you as I'm sure you run an outstanding service but, unfortunately you sort of picked a board to spam that does not think favorably of free hosts.
AND the question is...Is free hosting really free? From experience, I know that if a new blogger pays attention to the information here on this forum he should be able to generate 1k in traffic within the first 6 months. But for the sake of arguement, I'll not pay any attention to those first 6 months and only use numbers from the second 6 months. If he is generating 1k uniques and his average CTR is 13% (which is mine...pitiful I know but I'm working on it) that would mean that he is sending 130 clicks a day to your sponsors or 23.7k in that 6 month span. Now lets say the conversion on that is 1:1000, that would be approximately 23 sales. Now using revshare ($12 per sale) an approximate minimum would be $273.00 it cost for free hosting. Compare that to: $10.00 domain registration $66.00 yearly hosting Total cost of own domain: $76.00, which means someone using free hosting is "paying" a minimum of $200.00 more for free hosting. Even if my numbers are "over-inflated" a bit, whether it be on CTR or uniques it only takes one sale a month over that 6 month period to where your not finacial better off paying for hosting. |
