my experience with dutch hosting....they all suck, i keep my ass with the usa hosting, you have to check several other hostings, first dutch hosting is more expensieve then the deals in usa, now the euro is more worth then the dollar, so hosting is cheaper also in usa becaus of the dollar and to be honest, i have more fun using usa hosting then dutch, hell you should know the dutchies are not to be trusted , good your back in bizz, but check your hosting and move if needed![]() |

Frank, I had a similar story last week. One of my galleries was listed on the Hun and I received an e-mail from my host, Dreamhost that an unusually large surge in ntraffic was causing their servers to crash.
It seems that they have 250 connections per machine to the net and my gallery was using them all. They applies a throttle limiting to 10 requests per sec. Some also recommended putting the images on a separate subdomain eg) images.mydomain.com - seems like this would help the situation. Question is , is Dreamhost up to Hun listings and secondly I am thinking of hosting images on a free host and hot linking. I am also looking at sponsor hosting for gallery listings? Any comments/opinion on my options? |

I use Dreamhost and back in September I had a pic gallery at The Hun that was getting huge traffic. I was notified by email that they throttled the site down to 100 connections per 10 sec. But there was so much traffic I couldn't even bring up a single page. I contacted support and told them they needed to remove the throttle. They immediately moved me to another server that had lighter loads. I haven't had a problem since then. So if the server you're on can't handle the load, ask Dreamhost to move you to another server. |
