Great information everyone, please keep it coming!

Just to clarify on one thing that was pointed out. Do the majority of you all prefer to use actualy text rather than a graphical image for text?

I just see that you can be more flashy with a graphical text link rather than just plain text, but what the hell do I know

I'll give you a little marketing clue and you can draw your own conclusions. Have you ever been to the grocery store and when you turn the corner to go down the next aisle something immediately grabs your eye? That bottle or bag of "whatever" did not grab your attention by chance. It was carefully planned. The same theory applies here. Text loads fast and stands out on a page. Text used in graphics tends to blend into the background and doesn't grab the eye as fast.

Hit em with your best shot as fast as you can and build upon that first impression in the rest of the site. After some trial and error I think you will find more hits to your sponsor and hopefully more sales.

You can be pretty LARGE with text and use a link color and a common font that stands out, leave the space around it not so crowded, and pull the surfers eye towards it.
Text gives you long term SE possibilitys and can be flashy as well. Graphics a lot of the time just blend in with the theme of the site and get skipped over by the surfer looking for the free shit.
And Preacher is dead on, they ain't all going to be winners. It's a tougher game than it used to be. Have a hub worth bookmarking. I usually have a link to my LL on both galleries, coz I figure I've likely lost the sale by then anyways, and my LL is worth bookmarking
