link trades and where to place them

Okay maybe I was a bit unclear, so here goes.

When making link exchanges there are various rules and conditions of where the link gets placed. Not as many people care where the reciprocated link is placed on your site, after all they are usually doing the same thing, but the smarter listing people will ask that you place their return link on a more significant page (front page or a category index page).

The rules are the rules and they will determine who you link to etc.

But for a no requirement link trade you want the link the other site sends you to go to the main page or the area of your site that has content etc. similar to that site. If it is a top list of facial sites then send that link to your main facial page and so on... the PR will be better from a site that is sending stuff that holds relevancy to where it is being sent from.

A fur glove link would not get much play from a scuba diving site, etc.
