Zango is having a bad day

Massive layoffs at pop-up advertiser Zango

Zango, the controversial online advertising company whose business tactics have been consistently atttacked by privacy experts, has laid off 68 employees.

The cutbacks -- announced internally yesterday -- come as the Bellevue provider of pop-up ads attempts to transform into a casual games distributor. The layoffs also come a month after Zango was named one of the best companies to work for in the state by Washington CEO magazine.

I think Zango is hiring spammers, here's a recent chat I had with one of their reps. If they are laying off people and hiring spammers, they're hurting

Hi,

I was browsing around for adult sites and came across youngsmut.com. I advertise with multiple sites like yours, and the results have been great so far. I'm looking for more sites in that niche and I'd like to talk to you about some direct advertisement.
What would be the best way to talk? IM/email/phone?

Thanks,

Best thing to do is just email me with an idea of what you want, text, banner, position on the page, etc., and I can give you a price.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,

We are flexible and can work in a few different ways. We can promote our video content either via hosted galleries that you can link to from your site through banners, or we can simply have our content directly on your site through java.
As for payment, we work a bit differently than others. The way we usually do it is when a user clicks on our content, they install our player, and see the video, which is when we pay you. We have very good payouts, and the more views our videos get, the higher the payout gets.
Do you use IM at all? It may be easier to talk that way, and go over the specifics (MSN:{deleted} | AIM: {deleted} | Y!: {deleted} | ICQ: {deleted}

Please let me know if we can proceed.

Thanks,

Check out the above url, and if you ever decide to work for an honest company that does not steal sales from the honest people in this business, let me know.

I'm sorry you feel that way Dan, but a lot of what I see on that page doesn't make much sense. Zango is an adware company, we dilver ads to our users, not try to steal information off their computers. Our software is very easy to uninstall and furthermore, no install is ever forced on anyone. We work with many webmasters and advertisers alike, of various sizes and types, and we have over 20 million Zango users, which alone attests to our presence and the fact we are a professional and legitimate company operating in this industry.
If you'd like to hear more about the way we actually work and not rely on pure speculation, please contact me and I'd love to discuss things with you in more depth. As I said before, you have a good website, and I'm sure you could do quite well with us.

Best Regards,
