Hi everyone! I'm a first-time poster and I figured I'd introduce myself, talk a bit about what I do, and ask for a little feedback and advise.

My name is Jeff and I live in Seattle. I run a business selling adult content for mobile devices. I've been in the adult mobile biz for about 4 1/2 years now. I worked with several partners in a successful start-up beginning late 2002. We built mobile adult sites and promoted them on mobile networks in Europe and Asia. We also compiled and processed adult content for mobile and sold it to other site operators. Our company prospered, then foundered, then prospered again. The usual ups and downs of business.

A bit over a year ago our partnership fell apart and I ended up in business for myself. Since then I have focused on the market for adult mobile sites in the US. It's still small, but it's growing. It all takes place off of the operator portals - "off-deck" as they say. I have a number of sites live and am doing a decent business. Right now all of my traffic comes from mobile. None from Web. But I've decided it's time for that to change.

I've recently decided to launch Web tours and a Web affiliate program to promote my mobile offerings. As such, in the last few months, I've started lurking on the adult webmaster boards and getting more up to speed on the Web adult biz.

The way my service works from Web: users submit cc info and mobile phone info on the same purchase page. They are then sent a link via text message. They follow the link to the mobile site. My sites are all-access video sites like Web-based member's programs. They use cookies and other technology to remember user's devices and auto-authenticate returning members with no password or sign-in. Members can bookmark my sites on their phone or iPhone and return anytime and anywhere to watch mobile porn videos. My site app recognizes device types and optimizes content delivery for 100's of devices (file type, file size, screen dimensions, etc.)

Right now I charge 12.99 for a 14 day recurring subscription on mobile, but I've set up my beta Web product to sell a month for 19.99. In the past I've tested mobile from Web a bit and this term and price seemed to be the best return.

And here is the beta Web tour for Up & Cumming Mobile I have live right now. This is mostly for testing the purchase and delivery process. I am having an experienced adult web designer build me a set of nice contemporary tours, banners and tgps for 8 of my sites. I realize this current page is 90s crap:

My billing partner is a co. that specializes in mobile billing - historically for non-adult products like ringtones and games. They had to get a new bank to handle my adult transactions. They specialize in tying the transactions to the delivery of mobile products.

Anyway, that's some initial info about what I'm doing. My questions for people here:

1. Do you think porn for mobile phones can really sell from Web? I've seen a couple of programs try over the last few years, but their technology and user experience really sucked.

2. Do you think mainstream web adult affiliates will be interested in promoting this product? I find I get a very high conversion rate in my testing - partially because of the curiosity factor. And of course, iPhones are coming on strong. But will people promote it?

3. Does it matter that my billing partner doesn't have an integration with NATS or any of the well known adult affiliate tracking systems? They do have a great affiliate tracking program, and will even cut checks directly to affiliates, but they are an unknown in the web adult biz. Here's a link: http://www.billingrevolution.com/

Hi Jeff. Welcome to the the board.

Two things make me weary of the the market for mobile porn. One is the lack of standards amongst mobile devices. It makes it difficult to create any sort of common sized site for a standard device (though the iPhone may help change this.) The other is the emergence of mobile high speed for netbooks and laptops. As these devices become more available and cheaper, I wonder if users may rely on them for their transient porn needs.

Other than that I don't have much to say except to wish you luck!

Not everyone is interested in the same market you are interested in. This board has members with knowledge and talent in many expertises, but is known primarily for its link list and blogging sub-communities.

True, that is a barrier when building mobile sites. However, with the product I'm selling, webmasters don't need to build in mobile to promote it. They can promote on Web. I have a great custom site that recognizes devices and optimizes my content. And of course I like it because it's a nice barrier to entry for competition - at least for the moment.

Yep, that could become an issue. But like everything in adult, I think mobile will have a window of time to produce returns. Things always change. My bet is that the next few years will be nice for mobile adult.

A fruit basket would be very nice right about now.

From what I'm reading and what I'm seeing locally iPhones have become extremely popular. I was at a college graduation ceremony last month and was overwhelmed by the amount of iPhones I saw on campus.

I have to admit I was skeptical of the practicality of surfing the web on a mobile device until I got an iPhone.

Not really sure what the market is for porn on mobile devices but it seems like it could be huge now that decent devices are on the market and 3G and faster networks are becoming more widespread.

Going to bed right now but going to check out the links on my iPhone tomorrow.

Just saw the thread... and since I'm in no way close to mobile devices I don't have any valid opinion. I still have a monochrome bar cell phone from 7 years ago that seems indestructible. I've heard there is a segment for mobile porn though so good luck.

It seems with Google's open source mobile phone, we are at just the beginning....the possibilities in the near future are endless.
