I chose local directory on my setup, but it has never put anything in there.

Best I can tell this is because it is storing banners that I uploaded through the web interface in the MySQL database and not in that folder.

It is probably used for a different setup then how I set it up.

BTW: You have the slashes going the wrong way in that example that you posted assuming you are running it on a *nix server.
