Many of the photos that look like static thumbs on your index and main pages are larger than they appear in your pages, so you're using HTML to force them to fit. Don't do that.
And
plateman was correct, your file sizes are out of control on your full-size pics. There's no reason for 800x600 photos to be weighing near 400kb each. They don't even look all that good. What are you using to crop your photos, a rusty hatchet?
