Born again newbie

After a 5 year hiatus from the game, I keep reading about how this industry has changed so much and how many people have moved into mainstream marketing etc. I visited one of the old forums I used to frequent and it is freakin dead and depressing... Most of the posters announced they were no longer able to sustain an even marginal income...

I have spent the last 5 years as a CMS developer, designer and programmer (as well as mom to 2 kids) but have kept a lot of my old domains and was thinking about doing linklists and tgp submitting again to supplement my income. Even 5-6 years ago the general muttering was "porn is dead" "there's no money in porn" etc but it seems that many of the very successful marketers I knew back in the day have since moved on, saying they no longer are able to make any money - I guess with all the tube sites and recession etc I can see why tgps and linklists might not be viable for making money.

Anyway, my question is, has the industry changed so much that TGPs and Linklists have become unprofitable if you are not already well established? I used to make a decent side income... what are the noobs doing these days?
