Although I'm not personally all that interested in our royal family, our country could do with a wedding like this every couple of months or so.

Plus it made a good "test run" for dealing with the enormous influx of tourists London will get next year when we host the Olympics!

Yes, but it was a good day for releasing news that you wanted to sneak out (e.g. reduction in funding for the police force), with the press concentrating on the wedding, scant column space was left for anything else.
