sure, here is a quick tip for you. Invest in a couple of lights with umbrellas (you'll see what I mean). You can find some that come as a set of two with everything you need for right around $200 . thats not bad, and gives you very nice clear images while still maintaining an amateur feel. Play around with how you set them up and how you use the light for slightly different looks.
Next thing, make sure whoever is behind the camera understands the concept of framing and is willing to watch all the action through the viewfinder or LCD.
Once you have good lighting and the framing is good you'll have some descent content. It won't be hollywood professional stuff, but who cares?? LOL
