I know that this is kinda off topic for this thread, so sorry Linkster.

I have a problem with a statement that Mr. Burkett made in one of his letters that seems to sum up the position of those opposed to the war in Iraq, at least for me.

Quote:
Being ever mindful of law and the tactics being employed, we must focus ourselves to what has been successful and keep it successful, while moving aggressively forward.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not in favor of any kind of war, but after 911, something had to change, and not just more official protests and UN resolutions and sanctions that haven't worked for over 10 years. In my mind, the thousands of lives that were lost on 911 are the direct result of our total lack of a direct, firm and determined response following all the various attacks leading up to that point. I'm not talking about lobbing a few missiles at a spot in the desert, or arresting some scapegoats in Yemen. I'm talking about a fundamental change in the way we deal with attacks on our homeland.

To say that the US policies and procedures for dealing with terrorism leading up to 911 was "successful" is, to me at least, ludicrous.

If the CBS thing turns out to be a carefully laid trap, then koodos to them and Mr. Burkett and whoever else dreamed it up. If all of the allegations made by Mr Burkett on those documents are true, the way he was treated when he became ill and refused to alter documents and so forth, then someone deserves a giant foot up his ass, and I'll be first in line with my size 11's on.
