Far-L (hiya by the way) - I agree to some extent - there are examples on both ends of the spectrum like you gave - the problem I see is that there are a good 30 "major" aff programs out there that have reps that don't understand the basics of traffic manipulation, SE positioning, terms used in the industry etc. There are "very few" that at least will say - "I dont know but I'll find out". It would seem that the program owners accept this as "normal" without taking into consideration that their bottom line is probably suffering a 10-20% reduction because of it - maybe that 10-20% isnt worth the cost of a rep that has some knowledge, however I can do the math and can see that to raise the profit that much by the addition of someone knowledgeble and shit-canning the reps that are just taking up breathing air would be a good boost to a programs productivity and reputation among the WMs out there that do make part of that bottom line for the company.
The only analogy I can think of right now is that most companies have "greeters" who have been programmed to say "welcome to Walmart - come back every day" and it is a waste of their money.
