Oid post but don't forget that many surfers sign up for non-recurring then come back a few months later and join again (and maybe again and again). With a 255 day cookie you are more likely to get credit for those as an affiliate. With a 30 day cookie you won't unless there is something tying the customers future purchases to you the affiliate who originally referred them.
