Afiliate program opinions:

Now, we've had our affiliate program going for a while now and we've had a fair amount of people sign up... But really, it's not growing as fast as I'd hoped.

So, is it a good idea, do you think, for me to launch some kinda crazy blow-out rev. share plan for a while, to get the name out there and pick up some bodies? Right now it's 50/50 and going okay, and there's a re-design in the works for our current tour page which should make some difference. I dunno; I guess I'm just gathing opinions. What would get your attention, when it comes to a new and relatively untested sponsor?

A tour redesign is a good first step. If I'm not impressed with the tour when I'm looking at a site, I'm probably not going to sign up for the affiliate program.

Next, I don't see anything that would set you apart from the hundreds of other young solo girl sites. You're competing in a very heavily saturated category. If your site doen't stand out from the crowd, at least a little, it will be a continual battle to attract top affiliates to your program.

Two very solid ( |afro| ) replies, and if anybody knows this market it's Toby -- from what I hear.

My first instinct was what Licker said, I have so many sponsors as it is unless a ccbill site is either run by my friend, has exclusive content I was already looking for to include in a current project, or had a handful of sites I thought I could market, I just wouldn't sign up.

You seem to have hit the same problem as us...a great start then it all levels off..

from what i have heard around the boards. affiliates like more than one site so if you only have one and its a solo girl she HAS to stand out..there are some very succesfull solo girl sites but they have been going for a long time...

we get told all the time how great our site is in comparison to some other solo girl sites but thats not enough to make affiliates sign up...

for example our weak area right now is our signup page one look at it puts the good affiliates off .. so we are having a new site designed for the programme..even though we only have one site i think thats important. When i look at your page its weak too

my advice, if your looking for affilite sales is to make lots of promo. look around at what the affilites you want to sign up are promoting and give them it... make life easy for them to sign up and send you traffic...remember free site owners need content and galleries so make loads of them and make them stand out if you can

We have been told our content is great but thats nowhere near enough to make sales...

give affilliates what they want..PROMO PROMO PROMO

For me it's simple. Get a really good tour, leak free, and convert the traffic that I send to you. It's not easy, I know. But... if I hear from a fellow webmaster that a site is converting at under 1:400 regularly for them, I will sign up and send traffic. It has to be in ICQ or something private like that, and from someone I trust. In short, word of mouth and viral marketing and as program owner all you can do about it is -

1. Make sure your site is really really good and converts very well.

2. Never shave, have leaks and what not. Give your webmasters full credit and get them to see good ratios.

3. Give nice referral bonuses/percentages for webmaster referral.

I would prefer to go with 50/50 on a very well converting site. Then give 10% extra for referring affiliates. Now, if your site is converting extremely well, people will get the word around...
