Don't think I'm too picky - I just advice you what you shall do to get listed EVERYWHERE (however my rules are much more tolerant)
Reduce pics size under 100k - preferably below 50k
Don't make gallery links smallest on page
Dont overdo with outgoing links (3 max is a standard today)

I've tried 24 recip sites and they got listed at the beggining - past time I got troubles with getting listed by some sites but (I'm not SE guru but) I didn't notice any SE advantages in making only 1 doorway page

Yep, it was one site (dont count banner change as new template) - there are some freaks on the Board who ban for templates. LOL

Sure they do, and I don't blame them, but 6 sites, first and only sites could hardly be "templating". Maybe it could.

I just haven't had time to build more front ends. I have other custom galleries also.

Basically yes , but there are some LL owners who will only take an 'index' page so you need to be a bit careful. A lot of people get round it by doing an 'index.html' page, and a 'warning.html' page and an 'enter.html' page and so on.

Or put the main page and 2 galleries in a folder and then put 2 or 3 index.shtml page folders in it and link back to the main keyword folder.
