neticule, no, by pacing the submits over a 24 hour period, it is very hard for someone to get too many submits in. If I accept only 5 sites per hour, and they try to submit 300, they will fail. If they fail too often, they will remove me from their submit lists and move on somewhere else. Basically, I don't even provide a submit form for people when there are no submission spaces left.

This is total submits for everyone, not per person. It really changes the whole dynamics of the submit process.

Wow guys, you are such a great help
He just bought some more new domains to keep me busy.... and it's only the second day. I used to send a confirmation email to the submitters but just stopped it. Hope this helps.

Does anybody know of any good submit scripts where you can make all your regular good submitters partners and still allow non-partner submits (limited number per hour to avoid overflow of submits) to give newcomers and non-regulars a chance to submit too.

DragonList allows you to set up partner accounts without blocking non-partner submits. You can review partner submissions separately from non-partner. There is not currently a way to limit number of submits per hour.

It's geared more toward link lists than TGPs (no thumbs at this time, limited sorting ability) but it can be used for either.

That would be very harsh if its a big company... could end up banning 1-2000 people that way

That's why I stressed to know the difference. |cool|
And then Yes, ban the whole thing.
Or you could spend hundreds of hours chasing down the same cheaters.

If you see a pattern you don't like, just black list them.
(you can always remove as needed)

interesting thread. thats amazing to me that someone would do that. (300 different domains and submissions in a day).

being clever doesnt mean to cheat. i wish some webmaster would understand the difference between 'thinking outside the box" and just plain ol' cheating.

Barron,

the issue here is that there is only 1 domain registered in the reverse lookup for an IP. whois.sc is one service that has access to all of the domain names, and has done a dns lookup, and has a true reverse lookup.

So, yes, your method works, but wouldn't detect what 300 domains used a particular IP.

Oh!

Looking 300 domains up by hand is silly. I was only reading the part about free lookups.

pay the 15 bucks its worth it

It never ceases to amaze me the lengths some people will go to in order to try and cheat
