I've been trying to resist asking this, but what's the significance of $6,000 per month? Had I asked this question, I think I would have said $5,000, but maybe I'm not ambitious enough.

It is a bit of an odd number isn't it? LOL Usually someone ask $5K or $10K.

I am quite surprised at many of you who think that $6k a month isn't easy to achieve. Failure to adapt and move with the times doesn't mean that others have failed to identify the areas where profit is easily made. With the correct tools and knowledge, 10k a month can be generated quickly with minimal investment.

Ecchi - pulling a 100 hour week is quite common. We have times where we pull 20 hour work stints, and also have times when the pressure is off and we are lucky to do 60 hours.

Sure. But how long does it take to get knowledge?

Hell, even I occasionally pull a three hour stint without a nap.

I'm at this 7 days a week. I often put in 12 hour days or more. I do try to take short breaks often and do some sort of physical activity each day like going to the gym, playing tennis, bike riding, or tearing apart and remodeling part of my home. lol

RE: "Ecchi - pulling a 100 hour week is quite common." Yeah I know, as I said "(I) occasionally speak to webmasters who consider that a slow week". The same goes for your "20 hour work stints", I often do 30+ and know people who call me a "woose" for moaning about that.

However I would not recommend those long stints to newbie webmasters.

Thanks Guys & Girls

Thanks everyone for your comments and feedback. Its been very educational.

Seems like all I have to do is give up sleeping and clone myself a few times. Simple really.

Why $6000 per month? I want about £3k monthly (decent UK salary) and with current exchange rates thats about $6K.

Probably got more people to read it too, because its a strange figure.

Next one target will be $12K monthly.

Thanks All

Yeah, but the real money comes in when you work smarter and harder.

I Used to work full time, run a small business after hours then come home and work on the computer. Average sleep was 4-5 hours a day ,some times I might get 5 hours every 2 days.

I can tell you from personal experience that when you continue to burn the candle from both ends all you achieve is total burnout twice as fast.

Sooner or later your health will tell you to stop.

Well at least I hope it does.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to survive the first warning or smart enough to listen to it.

I made the foolish decision to chase wealth at the expense of health and paid the price.

Do not make the same mistake !.

Money is useless if you do not live long enough to enjoy it .

This night I had only 2 hours sleep but it wasn't because I worked too much, I just couln't sleep

You don't need to work 10 hours per day to make 6k / month. Some people do work about 3 hours and make twice that money with tgp.

Lots of useful info in this thread (also lots of useless info but that's beside the point)

Pstar I don't think people are saying you have to clone yourself & give up sleeping. Seems like you're perhaps focusing on the wrong posts. What I read in this thread, is that you have to realize first of all that it isn't going to be immediate, no matter what. Secondly, start networking & making contacts so that when you're submitting (if you decide to do galleries or freesites) then the linklist & tgp owners recognize you as 'not just another bs submission' which will increase your listings, and therefore your traffic, and resultingly your $$ earned ideally. Also, what LB said was very useful. Take some time to study the business and find out where the money making trends are these days. Once you've figured out which area you want to start in, work smart, not hard. Ie, if you're submitting to a linklist or a tgp that constantly rejects you -- Find another one to submit to, as someone else mentioned before.

It will be hard if you make it difficult for yourself, but there is lots you can do to make life easier. Tommy had some very good suggestions, and his advice is gold.

If you're rushed or in a hurry to speed things up, chances are the quality of your work is going to decline... best of luck!

This is a great thread but would be much more usefull (for you) if you had said: "Making $1000 per month"...

Be humble...start low and raise the ladder of sucess.

I agree, that is almost impossible to make 6,000 a month being brand new.

You would have to invest in advertising your websites if you are new, so it goes to the same thing that applies in every business both online and offline. You have to SPEND MONEY to MAKE MONEY.

Good luck !

Why aim low?

A few people are suggesting i should have aimed for $1000 per month first.

I didnt do this because $1000 per month is pocket money, if I'm earning that then it would only be a hobby and not much else.

I want to grow my sites as a business and so $6000 is just the first target.

Yes it takes money to hit that level but to me porn is a business not a hobby.

Cheers

Let me say it again BE HUMBLE...

You iether have lots of money available to invest or/and dreams are too high...

You were told by dozens of people that such goal, specialy for a newbie is unreal.

When you go work for a company you don't go straight to the top (unless you had some prior experience or hookups), its the same in this industry..

Stop dreaming and once again be humble...

When I quit my day job in April 2003 to concentrate on this biz full time I was making an average of $800 to $1000 per month. (Was just building & submitting freesites in the evenings.)

By October 2003 I was making just over $6000 per month.

So I took 6 months but I already had a head start as I'd been building freesites part-time for a year and a half before I started working full time at this.

So, like others have said already, it can be done
