What happened to T pat is not what I would call professional, and ofcourse denying this ever happened is pretty easy. I have heard pat being pretty satisfied with some other scripts so obviously your doing something wrong, but this is not for me to decide as im not going to buy any of your products anyways.

I think most of the GGJ members trust the opinion of people on this board over any other and so do I so you dont even have to try to convince me

You know the people around here better than I do. If you trust their opinion, you may very well have a reason to do that. You don't know me at all, so I can understand you believing in them.

In the end, there are lots of good products out there besides phpLD, and it is not just the product that makes a successful website. It is what you do with the product.

Right David, I'm going to be leave that Oast, Walrus and I were your only three customers out of a hundred that weren't happy with your script and poor customer support
I'd be willing to bet that you don't even have the script running on a test site

A search for links to phpldnews.com on Yahoo will show a couple dozen. And of course this one yields 7.5 Million. There are approximately 100,000 sites running our scripts. There is no way poor customer support would have led to such widespread use.

If you are interested in trying to work out your specific case, I have already provided info for you on post number 28.

all that proves is Yahoo likes phpLD more than Google
I don't give a shit how good or how bad phpLD is doing
Now I'm more convinced than ever that you don't even have PHPNews running anywhere

Pat, how exactly was the spamming done?
I'm not sure of how it was done Jim, I thought about asking Brian or Sparky to look into it and then decided that their time was to valuable to waste on this and just had Brian close the FTP account that I had set up for David.
My gut feeling is the spamming was payback for starting This Thread when I had finale had it with their shitty support
Here's the shut down notice from colo-cation

Your User Account david has been compromised on colo46.mia.colo-cation.com. This is a notification that we have locked that account, you will need to contact us to have the account unlocked, and then change the user's password.

This account has been used since Wednesday to send out spam email.

Let us know when you are ready to deal with the compromised password issue, and we can unlock the user account.

From TijuanaPat <info@tijuana-news.com> -- That sucks, can you just delete the account David? I had it set up so
that a software vendor could upgrade a script.

It's sounds like you also don't know why there was a problem with the spam. We don't do "payback". Maybe that is more a term you are familiar with, but not me. I did just look at the username and password you had been using on your colo, and it was simple word that would be very susceptible to a dictionary attack. You should never use a single word for a password for a server. I still don't know what happened exactly in your case, but using an easy password certainly leaves room for the possibility you were compromised due to a weak password.
(Without revealing the password, it was something like "mickey" or "donald", so a 6 letter word)

As I said, read post #28.

@Jim - not exactly. You can read about our policies for the supporters forum here:
http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/foru...ead.php?t=5846
If you actually look at our forum, you will see we help people both in and out of the supporters forum.

Yes, I do, and this is noted previously as well (plus few dozen customers running it, some with a link back and some unbranded).

Not only is that a half assed answer its also self serving.

I may be nosy but based on the arrogance of your replies here to your own clients and now this - youve satified my curiosity.

Good luck with your "Teletaria" styled marketing.

Momma Im thru ...come wipe me.

You asked, and this is a very important question. That is why there is entire page devoted to the answer.

If you were an actual customer, you would have seen this BEFORE your made your purchase:
Quote:
If you are a first time purchaser of phpLD, it is highly recommended that you also purchase access to the Supporters Forum which is a one time fee of $10. This is where support questions are answered for v3. This item is priced separately so that you don't have to pay for it twice if you buy additional copies of phpLD.
Most people don't have a problem. There is nothing hidden here. It is stated right on the purchase page. We don't seem to be losing too many customers as a result the current setup. It sounds to me like you made up your mind before you posted your question, or am I wrong on this?

Your wrong.
Wasnt anything to make my mind up about.

I just wanted to know what the $10 was for. Instead of answering me you sent me a link. Pretty easy to draw a conclusion from that as well as the rest of this thread.

I dont have a dog in this fight.

It dont matter much anyways I stopped using programs like that way back when Gossamer Threads crashed out one of my servers many years ago.

Sure, I understand. Maybe you will understand that I sent a link because I have put a lot of thought behind the answer, and maybe you will appreciate that. To just summarize it in a couple of sentences would not be sufficient, but I did attempt to do that after your last response.
