I got a kind of phising junk mail today which seems to be related to this, it linked to an ip so on a search i blocked the ips in my firewall which might help stop the files from downloading again...

Bob, same article I read AFTER I was hit...as I said earlier Im going on 2 days of removing "stuff" Ive got up to 12 trojans packed in to this one punch, plus the dns hijack virus and the about:blank ..happy happy joy joy

I've just found another shit mail in my junk folder this morning posing as the NCUA with the hyperlink pointing to 75.177.160.211 so i guess they're really pushing this shit out.

I dont know how to use Linux or install it on a windows xp machine as a dual boot. Thats what I was referring to as not wanting to fuck it all up..obviously I dont enjoy my Windows being fucked up thats just common sense. I have taken all the steps I can to ensure that I dont get in trouble with the web. I got this crap from a webmasters submit page. It was either an ad server they had running or it was written in the code of the page, either way I never thought by doing the right thing..hand submitting to trusted/referred places..that Id contract any BS through doing so. I was wrong. Im not saying that the WM purposely did this, it may be a case where their server was compromised but Id think they'd be on top of that. Live and Learn. Alot of that going on lately.

I run Windows, and two flavors of Linux on my Mac, all at the same time under Mac X, using Parallels.

Never had a virus or anything under Mac X or Linux but my Windows install seems to get hosed pretty regularly. I don't worry about it though, don't bother with the hassle of running virus software, since Windows is just a file on my hard drive. With my setup if something bad happens with my Windows install I just throw away the file, grab the backup file, and I'm back up and running in less then one minute.

OIC, simple misunderstanding

Dont wanna convert you to Linux, but most major distributions (openSuse, Ubuntu)
are aware of windows-users "wanting to try Linux" in dual-boot next to xp and
are well capable of handling everything full automatically, even the partition-resizing.

Actually you dont even have to install Linux to work with it. Ubuntu for
example is designed as a live-cd. In combination with a usb-stick for storing
your work-data there's nothing safer.

I'll have to look more into it all. My ultimate wet dream is to go to Mac platform. Just cannot afford to change over at the moment.

Well, the PC was cleared up tonight. Found a whole slew of shit that was pushed onto my PC from just one submit page..WOW how a webmaster can do that is beyond me. I hope his 12 cents from my test searches gets him all he wants for Xmas. So Ill be giving it hell all week I hope as to make up for lost time.
